About the artist

He was born in Havana, Cuba, April 27th,1973. The son of the famous Cuban vocal duo Rosell y Cary. His first musical studies were at the
Escuela Nacional de Artes (ENA) in Havana, Cuba (1985-1991) with classical guitar professor and concert master Jorge Luis Zamora.

At the age of 16, Guerra won the International Competition & Festival of Classical Guitar in Krakow, Poland, as well as the Special Prize (1990). Making a tour the following year for different Poland cities. He thus became the youngest Cuban awarded a prize in an international competition. He graduated as a Classical Guitar performer and Professor in 1991.

He studied two years at the
Instituto Superior de Música (I.S.A.) and studied classical guitar with Jesús Ortega, Joaquin Clerch and Efraín Amador. Then he moved to Spain, and obtained his Master Degree in Classical Guitar at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, Spain with professor and concert master Gabriel Estarellas.  Also he graduated from Counterpoint and fuge (1994-1998) with professors Daniel Vega and Mercedes Padilla Valencia. He received composition classes with composer and professor Aurelio de la Vega, Emeritus professor of the Cal State University, Northridge, California. In December 2015, Guerra obtained a Master Degree in Music at the Shepherd University, studying Film Scoring with professor Daniel Walker.

He started his career as a producer, composer and arranger in 1990 and has worked with many industry companies and professionals. Artists such us Cristian Castro, Celia Cruz, Albita Rodríguez, Eddie Santiago, Rey Ruiz, Choco Orta and Yamila Guerra among others.

Nowadays he writes music for US TV networks such as Univision, Tele Futura; the music of shows such as: FIFA World Cup music theme 2010, “Viva el Sueño” (2009), the Latin Grammy awards (2005 through 2011), “Premio lo Nuestro” (2006 through 2011), Up front (2005 and 2006), “Escándalo TV”, “Tributo a Nuestra Música”, “Premios Juventud”, “Sábado Gigante”, “Mira Quien Baila”, etc. are among his credits. He is composing and producing albums at his recording facility in Burbank, California.

Mr. Guerra, have compositions for chamber ensembles, choral works and for solo instrument. His classical works has been premiered and performed in the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia Cuba and Puerto Rico. The Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony, the Brentwood Westwood Symphony, the Latin Grammy winner (2010) The Havana String Quartet, Ensamble Solistas de la Habana, the Orquesta de Baja California, the B3: Brouwer Trio, and many other well known artists and musicians.

Guerra, was nominee for the XIII Latin Grammy Awards in the Best Classical Contemporary Composition for his work
“Seducción”, performed by pianist Elizabeth Rebozo, included in the album “Live in L.A., produced by Guerra for RYCY Productions, Inc. . Another track from the same album was nominee in the same category: the “Preludio Nº.1 by Aurelio de la Vega.

Guerra is now working in his seventh album that will include new vocal and instrumental works.
